In 1989 Ed Clark gave William Martin a series of oral interviews about his service as a soldier in a weapons platoon in the 84th Infantry Division in Germany in World War Two, from a cave near Prummern, Germany, to the Elbe River. He discusses what it was like for a young man to leave college to enter the Army, endure combat, get wounded, and ultimately come home, get married, and pursue a career in journalism in the small town of Jackson, Ohio.
